Celebrating Life

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.

Hey there! Thanks for joining me! I thought I would try something different and pick a quote (see above) that resonated with me to discuss today. For all of those out there who enjoy inspirational quotes, this blog post is for you. If you’re not a fan of inspirational quotes, well…too bad!

The quote that I picked to discuss really touched me because it’s such a positive and fun way to look at life. So what do I celebrate in my life? And what more could I celebrate? I believe we all have little accomplishments that we don’t give ourselves enough credit for and even larger accomplishments that we may feel didn’t measure up to our standards. A lot of us sell ourselves short of accomplishments, mundane and extraordinary. We may overlook the positive in our lives simply because they may not seem grand or we just take them for granted.

An example of a rather mundane accomplishment for me is going to the hospital for a procedure. I had to go to the hospital for an ultrasound the other day. Not fun. This has been my third ultrasound over the course of a few years. You would think I’d be used to it, but I was, instead, anxious with worrying thoughts coming and going along with delightful panic attacks coming to jump on the mental health trampoline. I’m not unaccustomed to having minor panic attacks in the waiting room of hospitals anymore.

I know for many people, a medical procedure may not be such a big deal, but for me, it is. For me, it takes courage to push past my panic and anxiety and get myself to that appointment. Which is why I celebrate every time I go through an appointment and even reward myself with a treat afterward, typically a chocolate croissant because they’re pretty much my favorite. Without a bit of celebration for my courage, I could see myself avoiding doctor’s appointments at all costs or having nothing to look forward to.

We can also celebrate the positive aspects of our lives. Celebrate family, friends, ambitions, admirable personal qualities, and more. Anything or anyone who brings joy to our lives can be celebrated. Everyone has something to celebrate. So let’s take some time this month and discover what can be celebrated in each of our lives. Let’s show our gratitude for even the smallest positive aspect of our day.
